Abhijit Deonath

Abhijit is originally from India and currently settled in Canberra, Australia.  He is a post-graduate from the Indian School of Mines, a premier national institute. He has, since 1991, held management positions in diverse sectors such as mining, manufacturing, finance and public service. He has also had brief stints in the Australian academia. 

Abhijit is a creative and resourceful entrepreneur. He is a literature, language, music and cinema enthusiast, and has participated in and anchored a number of community events. He possesses in-depth knowledge of artistic, musical, cultural and linguistic context of the Indian subcontinent, and the creative talent, directorial skills and professional perseverance necessary to produce the Film.

Abhijit has written, directed and produced a Hindi feature film Salt Bridge recently which features actors from Bollywood, New Zealand and Australia. He was personally invited to send the screenplay to be archived in the Core Collection of Margaret Herrick Library at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (Oscars). Abhijit is also a music composer. Seven songs of Salt Bridge composed by him were shortlisted for the 88th Oscars.

Abhijit writes poetry and fiction mainly in Hindi but occasionally in English also. He is also familiar with Bangla and Marathi literature.
